Family update
We have a new apprentice.
Meet Ciel, the newest member of the Sailors and Seekers crew. He’s not quite ready to polish rings, pack orders, or understand why his dad keeps talking to pieces of silver, but he has already completely changed the shape of our world.
After everything we’ve been through, having him here feels like the missing piece finally finding its place. He has brought more love, more chaos, less sleep, and a whole new reason behind why this little brand matters so much to us.
Hey, I’m Jayden. I’m the heart and hands behind Sailors and Seekers, a small jewellery brand cast and hand finished in the Macedon Ranges.
This started as my way of coming back to something that had always been part of me. I was born into a family of goldsmiths and grew up around people who could turn metal into meaning. I took a different road for a while, built a career in tech, and did all the sensible adult things. But jewellery never really left me. It just waited quietly in the background until life reminded me not to keep waiting forever.
After the loss of our soon-to-be daughter at 24 weeks, everything shifted. It made me look at life differently. It made me think about what matters, what we leave behind, and what we choose to make with the time we have. Sailors and Seekers came from that place. Love, grief, resilience, family, cultural roots, life experiences, the ocean, karma, and the stories we carry.
These days, it’s not just me in the workshop. Moka, our loyal Rottweiler and self-appointed apprentice, is usually nearby supervising, demanding pats, bringing toys, and making sure I don’t forget to take breaks. He contributes absolutely no jewellery making skills, but somehow still acts like senior management.
And then there’s Shula, my wife, my strength, and the person who makes so much of this possible. Her Mauritian roots, warmth, strength, and steady support are part of the soul of our little family. She keeps me grounded, challenges me, supports the chaos, and reminds me why building something meaningful matters in the first place. She’s not just part of the story, she’s the reason so much of it exists.
So when you buy from Sailors and Seekers, you’re not buying from a big polished machine. You’re buying from our little family, from a home workshop in the Macedon Ranges, from a brand built on love, loss, craft, cultural roots, life experiences, and the belief that the things we wear should mean something.
Thanks for being part of the journey.
